Professor Agnieszka Libura was a long-time faculty member at the Department of Applied Linguistics within the Institute of Polish Philology at the University of Wrocław. She served as Vice President (2014) and later as President (2015–2019) of the Polish Cognitive Linguistics Association, where she also oversaw the journal LaMiCuS. She founded and directed the Center for Cognitive Research on Language and Communication at the Faculty of Philology, University of Wrocław.

Her research focused primarily on linguistic semantics and pragmatics, with a particular affinity for theories within the cognitive research paradigm. She also explored language acquisition, the intersections of linguistics with disciplines such as psychology and neurobiology, contemporary metaphor theories, and the methodology of linguistic research.

Professor Libura authored numerous scholarly works, including the monographs Imagination in Language: Lexical Correlates of CENTRE-PERIPHERY and FORCE Image Schemas (2000) and The Theory of Mental Spaces and Conceptual Integration: Structure and Functionality of the Model (2010). She also edited and co-edited volumes such as Cognitive Blends in Art (2007), Sapientia Ars Vivendi (2013), From Conceptual Metaphor Theory to Cognitive Ethnolinguistics: Patterns of Imagery in Language (2014), and Cognitive Investigations (2018).

She delivered lectures and seminars on topics such as communication theory, research methodology in linguistics, cognitive metaphor theory, cognitive blend theory, cognitive studies on humor, and introductions to cognitive linguistics, semantics, and pragmatics. Additionally, she worked as a language instructor at the School of Polish Language and Culture for Foreigners, teaching students at institutions like Humboldt University in Berlin.

Professor Libura skillfully combined her academic research with teaching, inspiring countless students and doctoral candidates. She had a profound influence on fellow researchers, actively promoting cognitive linguistics. Known for her openness and curiosity, she cherished nature and enjoyed long mountain hikes.
