The Cognitive Research Center for Language and Communication Team
Over the past several years, research on these topics has seen remarkable growth in prominent research centers worldwide. Linguists at the Faculty of Philology at the University of Wrocław have also embraced this dynamic field. Recently, scholars from the Institute of Polish Philology, the Institute of English Philology, and the Institute of Romance Philology have fostered close collaboration in cognitive research, yielding impressive outcomes.
The Faculty’s Research Center aims to integrate ongoing projects, broaden research perspectives, and enhance public engagement through partnerships with other Polish and international research centers, as well as external stakeholders from the socio-economic sphere.
Our primary objectives include conducting scientific research, organizing methodological workshops, offering educational courses, and promoting cognitive linguistics, particularly in areas such as:
- Cognitive studies on meaning in semantics and pragmatics
- Cognitive grammar
- Cognitive ethnolinguistics
- Research on bilingualism and the acquisition of second and heritage languages
- Cognitive aspects of multimodal communication
- Cognitive corpus and statistical research
We collaborate with like-minded institutions in Poland and abroad, including the Cognitive Linguistics Institutes at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and UMCS in Lublin, the Polish Society of Cognitive Linguistics, The Distributed Little Red Hen Lab, the Center for Cognitive Science at Hunan Normal University, and the International Cognitive Linguistics Association. Our research is further supported by the Scientific Council, ensuring robust academic guidance.
